My name is Marissa Mele and I am an Ayurvedic Health Counselor and owner of Five Prana Ayurveda. I have been practicing Ayurveda for over 6 years and I’ve been practicing yoga for over 25 years. I am so fortunate to have been introduced to these sister sciences and I’ve personally experienced transformative changes in my body, mind and spirit through incorporating Ayurvedic principles into my life. I have also witnessed these same transformations in my clients. I believe in the efficacy of Ayurveda and I am very excited to share this ancient healing modality with you.

In our virtual Ayurveda & Yoga for sleep workshop, we will explore Ayurvedic practices to help you have a more restful night’s sleep. This workshop begins with an understanding of the Ayurvedic view of sleep and dreams. I will explain the relationship between the dosha and sleep. We will then break down the Ayurvedic practices used to help with the management of sleep like mardana or marma point acupressure, essential oils, herbal teas and more. I will then lead you through different yogic practices like pranayama or breathing techniques to help to calm the body, mind and nervous system before bed as well as mudras and asanas or physical postures. It will be good to have a yoga mat for that portion of the practice. Lastly, we will practice a 31 point meditation to progressively relax the body, mind and psyche. At the end of the workshop, you will have learned the techniques used in Ayurveda to calm the body, mind and spirit for sleep. Let’s dive right in.
