Long Exhalation Pranayama (1:2 Breathing)

In this Ayurveda pranayama video, you will be led through a 13 minute Long Exhalation Pranayama or 1:2 breathing practice. When we inhale, we energize our body, mind and nervous system. Whereas when we exhale, we calm our body, mind and nervous system. Therefore our long exhalation pranayama can help us to calm feelings of fear, worry and anxiety. To practice 1:2 Breathing, you will inhale to a count and then exhale to double that count. For example if you inhale to a count of 2, you will exhale to a count of 4. When we count the breath, we are combining pranayama, meditation and mindfulness. This will help to redirect the mind from our swirling anxious thoughts to our breath.
