Featured Ayurvedic Recipe: Golden Oats

Golden Oats

Ingredients:
1 cup organic rolled oats
1¾ cup milk
¼ tsp salt
Generous pinch of saffron
¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 cinnamon stick
4 cardamom pods
Drizzle with sweetener

Directions:
1. In a medium saucepan, add milk, salt, and spices.

2. Bring to boil over medium -high heat. Once it boils, add the oats and lower heat to medium. Cook for 5 minutes.

3. Remove from heat, remove cinnamon stick and cardamom pods. Scoop into a bowl & drizzle sweetener over the oats if desired.

This Ayurvedic Golden Oats recipe can be tailored to any dosha by following the recommendations listed below.

  • Vata: use cow's milk, almond milk or cashew milk; use up to 1/2 tsp agave nectar or honey as the sweetener.

  • Pitta: use cow's milk, almond milk or coconut milk; use up to 1/2 tsp maple syrup as the sweetener.

  • Kapha: use goat's milk or almond milk; use up to 1/4 tsp raw honey as the sweetener.
