Mantra Meditation Video

Mantra Meditation (Sacred Sound Meditation)

In this Ayurveda meditation video, you will be led through a 15 minute Mantra Meditation practice. This is not only a meditation practice but also a mantra practice. Mantra comes from the Sanskrit words manas or “mind” and trai or “to protect”, “to set free.” Therefore, mantra means “to set free from the mind.” Mantras are tools for the mind. They direct prana and are used in Ayurveda for self-healing. One of the most healing mantras in Ayurveda is the mantra to Dhanvantari, the God of Ayurveda. Some call Dhanvantari the “celestial physician.” When we practice Mantra Meditation we utilize sound, breath and awareness by silently reciting the mantra OM Sri Dhanvantari Namaha.

The mantra OM Sri Dhanvantari Namaha means “salutations to the power of healing from Dhanvantari.” This mantra is used in Ayurveda to find your path to healing. Ayurvedic professionals chant this mantra to call in the powers of Dhanvantari. And women in India chant this mantra while cooking to infuse the food with healing.

Practicing a Mantra Meditation can be very transformative and it helps to propel us forward in our meditation practice. Just sitting down and trying to clear the mind is not attainable for most people. Our minds are filled with thoughts that are racing by. This makes meditation frustrating for many because they feel like they aren’t doing it right. Mantras are the way to prepare the mind for meditation. They focus the mind on the words and sounds of the mantra rather than your fleeting thoughts. Some people like to use mala beads or rosary beads to practice mantra meditation. Mala beads have 108 beads on them. This can help you to set a specific number of recitations during your meditation. And with time and practice, additional rounds of 108 recitations can be added. Now press play on the video and follow along as you are led through the Ayurvedic meditation technique of Mantra Meditation.
