How to Develop a Positive Mental Attitude: Dropping the Victim Mentality

I was chatting with my bestie recently and the super wise lady she is shared this Buddhist philosophy with me. I realized that over and over again the same issue comes up in my life. There were moments on my #moospiritquest where I had to face this head on, but over the last 6+ months, it's still popping up in my life. For a while I was asking myself, "why does this always happen to me?" It was easy to fall into this victim mentality like everything was happening to me rather than with me. However, when I began looking at it through the lens of what it could teach me, I realized I hadn't recognized what I needed to learn. If something keeps happening over and over, it needs to teach us something. It doesn't have to be a curse. Instead it's an opportunity to heal a hurt, right a wrong, fix what's broken. It's an opportunity to evolve and grow. Have I figured it out? Not yet. But I'm getting there.
