Hakini Mudra

Hakini Mudra is the mudra of the God Hakini which is the god of the ajna chakra at the third eye. To practice this mudra, connect the fingertips of each hand together, leaving a space in the palms of the hands.

Hakini mudra helps us to remember something or if we need to concentrate on something for a long time. It also helps us to discover new ideas or to remember something we heard or read. Researchers have determined that this finger position promotes the cooperation between the right and left brain hemispheres. It is said to open access to our right brain hemisphere which is where memory is stored. I have used this mudra during shorter meditations and I like the exchange of energy you can feel between the fingertips.

The triangle shape you make with your hands has so much meaning. I think of the 3 bodies: gross, subtle, causal or the 3 gunas: sattva, raja, tama. For Christians the holy trinity or how the Star of David is 2 triangles. A triangle can represent the masculine, solar energy, Shakta and father. Turn the triangle upside down and it becomes the feminine, lunar energy, Shakti and mother.

Concentration is my strength.
