Yoga Pose: Elephant Trunk Pose or Eka Hasta Bhujasana
Eka = one
Hasta = hand
Bhuja = arm or shoulder

I have been thinking about what it means to be an artist. I love this quote from Pablo Picasso:
"All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up."

As a child I created art because I loved to make things. I wasn't afraid of what people thought of it or how it was perceived. I made things for the love of creating and nothing else. It took me a long time to get back to that place. I create art because it feeds my soul in some way. I'm sure there are people who wouldn't consider what I make art, but I no longer allow naysayers to detract me. Everything we do can become an act of expression so who has the right to say what is and isn't art. Cooking is art. Writing is art. Yoga is art. Living is art. When we do what we love and imbue creativity into that process, that is art. Please don't allow others to say that what you make isn't art. When you put yourself into something and share it with the world, it puts you in a vulnerable place. It opens you up to criticism and rejection. And what could feel worse than someone saying something disparaging about something you put your heart into? I hope it doesn't dissuade you. I hope you can push their comments out of your mind. I hope you continue to create. And I hope these things for myself as well.

Art is not a handicraft, it is the transmission of feeling the artist had experienced.
