The Three Dosha & Our Prakruti or Ayurvedic Constitution
Over the last months we have been discussing dual-dosha prakruti, or the unique combination of the three dosha of vata, pitta and kapha. The majority of people are dual-doshic. However, it is much rarer to be tridoshic or triple doshic of vata pitta kapha dosha. This can create confusion because there are three different sets of recommendations for each dosha, so it can be difficult to reconcile these often conflicting treatment protocols. We have already discussed the dual-doshic types of Vata Pitta dosha, Pitta Kapha dosha, and Vata Kapha dosha. Today we will discuss the triple dosha of Vata Pitta Kapha dosha.
Vata Pitta Kapha Dosha
When someone is told by an Ayurvedic professional that they are a Vata Pitta Kapha dosha, they are telling you that you have an equal or almost equal predominance of Vata, Pitta and Kapha dosha. Each one of us has all three dosha in our bodies, it is just our unique combination that differentiates us. In fact, every person is completely different and no treatment protocol would ever be the same for any two people.
When we are a triple dosha person, the treatment protocols will generally focus on a person’s vikruti or their current imbalances will also impact the Ayurvedic guidelines a person should follow. This constitutional type is also very hard to self-diagnose so if you may suspect you are one of the rare people who are triple doshic, be sure to schedule an Ayurvedic Consultation with an Ayurvedic professional to verify which doshic type you are.
Vata Pitta Kapha Dosha Characteristics
Vata Pitta Kapha people share characteristics of all three dosha. Vata Pitta Kapha dosha people can be sama prakruti or balanced constitution or they can be an imbalanced triple pakruti. Some tri-doshic people will rarely feel imbalanced and it will require a good amount of stress and aggravation to the dosha. These sama prakruti people have high immunity and rarely get sick. For the other Vata Pitta Kapha dosha people, they will become imbalanced quickly and easily. It is important for these types of triple doshic people to be disciplined in their healthy habits and will have to work harder than any other constitutional type to maintain balanced.
